Namibia Camping Circle & Fish River Canyon

This is a Camping package, offering the best of Namibia on an affordable budget – under a starry night sky, adding the Fish River Canyon.

Day 1 – Windhoek – Windhoek Gardens Guesthouse – standard room – Bed and breakfast
Upon arrival at Windhoek International airport you will be met by our driver. You will then be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Windhoek.
Tomorrow after a hearty breakfast, our representative will deliver your travel documentation. This includes maps, itinerary with detailed driving directions, vouchers, emergency contact numbers, and also answer any questions you may have. Your 4x4 vehicle will also be delivered this morning. We recommend you buy some water and snacks to take on the road with you. Your vehicle includes two spare tyres, tow rope, second battery, jumper cables, tools for tyre change, fuses and a compressor, as well as all the camping equipment you may need. Please see the ‘small print’ for camping inclusions.

Windhoek Gardens Boutique Hotel is located 5 minutes away from the centre of Windhoek, making it a perfect mix of convenience and practicality. Windhoek Gardens Boutique Hotel boasts 28 uniquely Namibian themed rooms, each with high speed internet and an ample workstation. All rooms are twin bedded and have en-suite bathrooms. The gorgeously furnished modern fitted rooms combined with a restful and rustic setting offers you the perfect stopover in Windhoek.

Day 2 – Kalahari – Kalahari Farmhouse – camping
Resting at the fringes of the Kalahari Farmhouse, in a grove of palm trees, Kalahari Farm Campsite is an unexpected find in the Kalahari. Blessed with artesian water, the small pocket of land is a verdant oasis that produces an abundance of produce for the Gondwana Collection.
Easily accessible along the tar on the outskirts of Stampriet, the Kalahari Farmhouse’s lush and secreted charm extends to its quiet and unobtrusive campsite. Pitch a tent or open the camper under the palms of the Kalahari.

Day 3 & 4 – Fish river Canyon – Canyon Village – standard room – Dinner, Bed and breakfast basis
Quiver trees, Nama culture, rugged landscape and an impressive sweeping rock formation characterise Canyon Village. Stone-and-thatch chalets are positioned in a horse-shoe design around a celebration of young quiver trees and the sprawling thatched central area, bedecked with bougainvillea, serving as restaurant, bar, lounge and reception. A cart drawn by a team of mules waits outside, conveying luggage to the chalets in a flurry of activity and laughter. 'Take a walk on the South's side' is a suitable motto for this Fish River Canyon lodge.
The history of southern Namibia is depicted in murals on the restaurant's wall and a colourful and lively rendition of life in the golden time of the missions graces the wall in the reception area. An ox-wagon with hundreds of years of history ingrained in its wood stands in the buffet area and a well-preserved horse cart has been placed amongst the boulders in the cosy bar.
Take a moment to honour the ancient Nama deity, Haitsi Aibeb, at the front entrance and to request a blessing for the journey ahead. Staff members take pride in wearing their traditional patchwork dress and headdresses here, bringing in the spirit of the south and the Nama people, one of the first peoples of southern Africa. The honey-coloured people have a knack for story-telling and have lovingly woven song and dance into their traditions. Their smile stretches far and wide.
These homely touches bring warmth and intrigue to a lodge which is an ideal base to explore the Fish River Canyon, Namibia's star attraction, twenty kilometres away. Join a guided excursion to the canyon viewpoints to be inspired by new perspectives or a 3-4 day Canyon Trail for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Be awed by this great Earth masterpiece patiently carved over the millennia.
And make the time to put feet up, soak in the sun at the pool, loaf in one of the comfortable couches in the lounge, watch the sun set over the Gondwana Canyon Park on a sunset drive or stretch legs on the numerous walks through the rocky hills. You haven't gained a suitable perspective of the surrounds until you glimpse the spectacular view from the rocky heights. Gondwana Canyon Park has an abundance of wildlife. The plains animals are visible on the 4x4 Wildebeest Drive between Canyon Village/Lodge and Roadhouse.
Enjoy a slow meander in the morning watching zebra, wildebeest, springbok and gemsbok, and include a stop at the Roadhouse for lunch before circling back on the gravel. There's an earthy appeal to the Village that mirrors the landscape of southern Namibia with an honest authenticity and integrity. Canyon land. Nama charm. And a wealth of rich storytelling.

Day 5 – Luderitz – Kairos Cottage – deluxe room – Bed and breakfast basis
Kairos Cottage is a unique bed & breakfast accommodation and coffee shop boasting stunning sea views! Our guests can enjoy a lovely breakfast from our menu while being serenaded with a song or two.
We offer five rooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom with a shower and spectacular sea views and sunsets. Good quality linen and towels are provided, and each room also has a television and coffee station with a bar fridge. At Kairos Cottage, you will experience a supreme moment that you will never forget!

Day 6 & 7 – Sossusvlei – Sossus Oasis – camping
Luxury camp sites at the entrance gate to Sesriem and Sossusvlei - the area well known for the towering red sand dunes of the Namib Desert and the remarkable depths of the Sesriem Canyon.
The Sossus Oasis Camp Site offers 12 shaded individual sites in a clean, tidy and well-kept environment. Each site has its own toilet, basin, hot/cold shower, barbeque, kitchen wash-up facility and electricity.
You can enjoy the magnificent views from your paved veranda or relax in the sparkling pool situated in the centre of the campsite.
After a long day of exploring the Sossusvlei area, there is nothing better than sitting round a campfire listing to the night-time noises of the local wildlife in the Namib.

Day 8 & 9 – Swakopmund – Namib Guesthouse – standard room – Bed and breakfast
A preferred bed and breakfast in Swakopmund, the luxurious Namib Guesthouse is designed to invite the warmth of the African sun, to capture the magnificence of our surrounding natural beauty, and to coax our guests into more than just a little self-indulgent relaxation.
Elegantly furnished and spacious, our selection of rooms varies from single and double suites to a two-bedroom family suite – and our luxury suites are complete with both decadent bathtubs and large showers.

Day 10 – Damaraland – Hoada campsite – camping
Hidden among large grey granite boulders and mopani trees, Hoada (pronounce Waada) Campsite offers travellers a serene home in the wilderness.
The area, which is home to a variety of animals, offers spectacular views and a number of hiking trails and 4×4 tracks to explore. This sensational landscape is home to Namibia’s uniquely adapted desert elephant, with its longer legs and smaller tusks, which are frequent visitors to the area. These and a number of larger plains game, reptiles and invertebrates are abundant on the Grootberg Plateau and river valleys that carve deep furrows into the landscape, waiting to be discovered by those passing through.
All six luxury camp sites can easily accommodate eight persons, with ample designated areas for four tents or vehicles with roof-top tents. The Group campsite can take up to 14 guests and have male & female ablution facilities.
Each campsite boasts its own kitchen facilities with running water and braai facilities with abundant space for setting up camp. As part of the mission of the conservancy, careful thought and emphasis have been placed on minimising the impact to the environment.
Ablution facilities, with flush toilets, are cleverly hidden amongst the rocks and the braai area doubles as a “donkey” system, that warms water for showers while the braai fires are burning.

Day 11 & 12 – Etosha National park (Okeukeujo side) – Etosha safari camp – camping
Good campsites are prized gems for those adventurous travellers who prefer to set up tents and sleep under the stars. Etosha Safari Campsite is such a find. Just south of Etosha’s Andersson Gate, it provides a peaceful base, a short drive from the national park. An inviting green lawn surrounded by mopane savannah is 'home sweet home' after the dusty roads and Etosha camps.
After hours of exciting game viewing in the national park, return to Etosha Safari Campsite. Luxuriate in peace, barbeque on the fire and sit back, reflecting on the famed 'Place of Legends.' Share your stories of the day and the wonders of the natural world, and fall asleep to the wind rustling through the mopane trees. Etosha Safari Campsite adds the extra bits to camping: the friendly touch, warmth and the chance to balance camp fare with a mouth-watering feast and tap toes to an African beat. Etosha camping at its best.

Day 13 – Waterberg – Waterberg rest camp – standard room – Bed and breakfast basis
The Waterberg Camp underwent extensive upgrading in 2007. It nestles along the base of the cliffs of the Waterberg Plateau, inside the National Park of the same name. It towers some 200m above the surrounding landscape, and the plateau with its sheer cliffs and fascinating rock formations, serve as a breeding area for endangered animal species.
Facilities include a restaurant, kiosk, (which is open outside restaurant hours) and adjacent to the reception office is a shop which stocks basic groceries, beer, wine, wood and souvenirs. The restaurant and bar are still located in the old, historic Rasthaus, which was built in 1908 and originally used as a police post.
The food and service here are of a decent standard, it has always had the reputation as one of Namibia's best rest camps. There is a swimming pool, with the newly built pool bar.
Accommodation is in a combination of double rooms, premier (bush) and family chalets. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, with wrought iron vanity units and ceramic basins, (complementary toiletries and soft towels), a ceiling fan, twin bed with comfortable bedding, bedside lamps, a wardrobe, a dressing table with mirror, a couple of lounge chairs, a tea/coffee station and a mini-fridge. A big sliding door leads into a private porch are, complete with table and chairs. Some of the rooms have barbeque facilities.

From AUD $1870.00 per person sharing inclusive of accommodations, meals and 4x4 single or double cab vehicle as listed above.
